Sail to Alaska aboard the Disney Wonder or the Disney Magic, two sister ships that bring Disney's signature style and storytelling to the seas. Each vessel carries about 2,700 passengers across 11 decks of fun, painted in the iconic red, gold, and black livery, complete with those famous Mickey ears. Onboard, guests will discover imaginative restaurants, whimsical entertainment spaces, and Broadway-caliber productions like Tangled: The Musical, along with character dining experiences such as Tiana's Place and Rapunzel's Royal Table. Both ships offer comfortable staterooms designed with families in mind, accommodating 3 to 5 guests with split bathrooms, ample storage, and options for ocean views or private verandahs. Whether you choose the Wonder or the Magic, every day at sea is filled with laughter, adventure, and the enchanting touches only Disney can deliver.
<>The fun never stops onboard a Disney Cruise - would you expect anything less from a company known for spreading joy? With entertainment, dining, and cabins designed specifically for families and fun, a Disney Cruise Line vacation to Alaska is just as magical as it sounds. Sail with Disney on a 5- to 9-night summer cruise, most of which leave from Vancouver. Travel to ports like Skagway, Juneau, and Icy Strait Point, home to the world's biggest Tlingit village. You'll be surrounded by natural beauty the whole way, with fjords, glaciers, waterfalls, and whale sightings just outside your window. And while certainly fit for family travel, Disney aims to please the kid at heart in everyone, and has plenty of activities designed for solo travelers and those without kids in tow, too, from port adventures to night clubs and a relaxing salon and spa.
Whether you choose an inside cabin or a concierge suite, you can expect beautiful Art Deco decorations, crown moldings and genuine teak accents, and Euro-top beds with Egyptian cotton linens. Each room has plenty of storage space and receives quality service from your cabin steward. In-room TVs are loaded with recent and classic Disney movies and TV shows, recently released theatrical movies, popular TV networks like ABC and ESPN, and exclusive cruising channels with daily activity listings, a real-time Bridgecam, and previews of upcoming Port Adventures.
Many cabins have an ocean view, whether that is a porthole window or a private verandah, as well as a seating area, so you'll never feel cramped. There are nine different room types altogether, varying in number of rooms and type of view, so your family is sure to find one that suits your needs best. Additionally, as part of your cruise fare, soft drinks, snacks and ice cream, Disney character meet and greets, entertainment and most meals are included.
Disney Port Adventures are designed with families in mind, and offer the very best of what Alaska has to offer. Exciting, engaging, and worry-free, these adventures allow you to pick what you want to do, then leave the rest to Disney. The line takes care of the details, and will adjust plans as needed if the ship is late getting to port or an excursion runs long. Plus, if there is a port change, your excursion will be fully refunded.
Some of the shore excursions Disney Cruise Line offers in Alaska are:
Disney's one-of-a-kind rotational dining allows guests to enjoy everything the ship has to offer in fine dining. You'll visit one of three dining locations each night, each with its own unique menu, while your servers travel with you, so your tastes and preferences are always known. Main dining locations include Animator's Palate, an innovative dinner show with fresh food inspired by the Pacific Islands, Asia, and California; Triton's, which serves American and French food; and Tiana's Place, a lively atmosphere with southern cooking and live jazz music.
For lunch, snacks, or a casual dinner, enjoy fresh food at the Cabanas lunch buffet, or the restaurant's casual four-course dinner meal. For an additional charge, enjoy a cocktail or specialty drink from the Clam Bar. Grab a wrap or sandwich at Daisy's de-Lites, or a slice of cheesy pizza from Pinocchio's.
Adults can treat themselves to a romantic evening alone at Palo, an Italian-inspired venue with live music and gorgeous views of the sea. Drinks are not included in the cruise fare, but packages can be purchased at the beginning of your cruise. Choose a white, red, or mixed wine package to accompany your dinner, or a beer package if that's more your taste. If you don't finish a bottle of wine at dinner, take it back to your room, or have your waiter save it for the next night. Cocktails are available at the ships' many bars and lounges.
There's always something fun going on onboard a Disney Cruise to Alaska. Take in a Broadway-style performance in the Walt Disney Theatre, hang out with Captain America himself during an autograph session, or sing and dance at a deck party on pirate night or during your sail-away celebration. The Alaska-exclusive Pixar Pals party is a must, hosted in the Grand Atrium and featuring friends and songs from Disney-Pixar favorites like "Toy Story," "The Incredibles," "Inside Out," and "Monsters, Inc." Another family favorite? The musical extravaganza at sea known as Disney Dreams - An Enchanted Classic.
Adults can rejuvenate with some peace and quiet at the Senses Spa & Salon. Services include hair and beauty treatments, massages, aromatherapy, teeth whitening, and more. Teens can get pampered too at the Chill Spa, a getaway for teens ages 13 to 17. The Disney Wonder boasts a fully-equipped workout facility with stunning ocean views, many group exercise classes, weight machines and cardio equipment. A one-mile walking path surrounds Deck 4, and personal training services are also available to help you work toward your fitness goals.
There are plenty of activities for adults to enjoy on their own, like drinking a pint at Crown & Fin, a British-pub style bar, or taking a dip in the adult-only pool. There are many nightclubs and lounges to visit, from Azure, an ocean-themed dance club, to the 1950s-style Cadillac Lounge, where adults can enjoy live piano and vocalists each night.
If there's one thing Disney knows, it's how to entertain kids. The Disney Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab are a fantasyland for kids, with clubhouses, character meet and greets, storytelling activities and more. On the Disney Wonder, kids can play in the "Toy Story"-themed Andy's Room, pretend to be Captain America at the MARVEL Super Hero Academy, or play with Anna and Elsa during Frozen Adventure time. In the Oceaneer Lab, kids can learn culinary skills, take part in fascinating experiments in the science lab, or dress up like a pirate in the "Peter Pan"-themed Captain's closet.
Tweens can hang out at Edge, an activity center for guests ages 11 to 14. Here, they can hang on comfy couches and watch movies on a flat-screen TV, sing top 40 hits on the karaoke machine, or make arts and crafts to bring home to friends. There's also Vibe, an open-plan lounge for teens ages 14 to 17. The lounge is decked out with big-screen TVs, music stations, video consoles, board games, a dance floor and more. These activity centers give older children freedom from parents, while staying under the supervision of trained onboard counselors.
Disney hasn't forgotten about the little ones - the "It's a Small World" nursery is available for kids 6 months to 3 years old, and is run by highly trained counselors. There is a nap room, a main play area, and an acclimation zone for tots getting used to the new environment. Space is limited, so it's best to book nursery visits as early as possible. Childcare services at the nursery cost $9/hour for the first child and $8/hour for any additional child in the family.
Outside of youth programming, Disney has made sure the overall cruise experience is as kid-friendly as possible, so families can spend time together whenever they want. Kids menus are available at every meal, and kid-friendly evening entertainment includes Disney-themed deck parties, live musical shows, and family venues like the D Lounge, a family club that hosts singing, dancing and games.
